Smith.ai AI Receptionist
The established name in virtual receptionists, now AI-first: its AI answers, qualifies, and books, and a network of live North America-based receptionists can step in on complex calls as an add-on. Two products, two meters — an AI tier billed per call, and the original live-receptionist tier billed per call at human prices.
DIRECT LINK NOT YET TESTED
Link type: DIRECT — we have no affiliate relationship with this vendor yet, so the link below pays us nothing. When that changes, the badge on this page changes to AFFILIATE. That badging is the deal, on every tool page we publish.
What it does (vendor-stated)
- AI Receptionist answers, qualifies leads, and books appointments; setup is self-serve with a simulated test call before going live (vendor-stated)
- Spam filtering: calls from known spammer numbers are filtered before the AI answers and do not count (vendor-stated)
- English and Spanish; live-agent handoff available as a per-call add-on
- The separate live Virtual Receptionist product: US-based humans, 24/7, with add-ons like appointment booking ($1.50/call, published)
- Published integration list is long (CRMs and calendars); the fine print varies by tier — custom AI prompting and custom integrations sit in Enterprise
Feature claims above are the vendor's own, from its published materials — not our test results.
Published pricing — checked October 2026
| Plan | Published price | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| AI Receptionist — Free | $0/month | 25 calls included, then $3.00 per call |
| AI Receptionist — Pro | from $150/month | 75 calls included ($2.00/call); 150-call tier $270, 300-call tier $500; overage $2.50–$2.17/call by tier |
| AI Receptionist — Enterprise | from $500/month | 300–1,000+ calls, custom prompting and integrations |
| Live Virtual Receptionist | from $300/month | 30 human-answered calls; 90 calls $810, 300 calls $2,100; overage $11.50–$8.50/call |
Everything is per call, not per minute — a 30-second wrong number and a five-minute booking both count (spam excluded per the vendor's policy). Busy months cost more by design; there is no flat tier.
What it costs at three shop sizes
| Shop size (illustrative volume) | Cheapest published path |
|---|---|
| Solo shop (~60 calls/mo) | AI: about $105 (Free tier + overage) or $150 on Pro |
| 5-tech shop (~150 calls/mo) | AI Pro 150-call tier — $270/month |
| 20-tech shop (~400 calls/mo) | AI: about $717 (300-call tier + published overage) |
Illustrative volumes, priced from the published plans above: a solo shop at roughly 60 calls / 250 minutes a month, a 5-tech shop at roughly 150 calls / 600 minutes, a 20-tech shop at roughly 400 calls / 1,600 minutes. Your call log decides which row is yours.
Works with the software you already run?
Smith.ai publishes an extensive integrations catalog (calendars, CRMs, Zapier). Native field-service booking depth varies by product and tier — the AI and live products do not integrate identically — so Jobber, ServiceTitan, and Housecall Pro users should confirm their exact path on the vendor's integrations page for the tier they're buying.
Questions to ask before you buy
- Which calls count against my quota, exactly — and how do I dispute one?
- Is the human backup included in my tier or a per-call add-on, and what does a transferred call cost all-in?
- Which integrations are in Pro, and which are Enterprise-only?
